1. Disclosure

A person involved in an institutional decision should disclose a material personal, financial, relational or organizational interest that could reasonably affect impartiality.

2. Management

A disclosed conflict may be managed through recusal, limited participation, independent review, additional documentation or another proportionate measure.

3. Recognition and selection

Persons directly responsible for selecting a recipient should not conceal material relationships relevant to the integrity of the selection process.

4. Record

Where a conflict materially affects an institutional decision, the management measure should be documented in the relevant act, resolution or internal record.
