1. Purpose
Recognitions document institutional acknowledgement of a person, contribution, project, act, memory or achievement according to an identified class and process.
2. Classes
Recognition may include awards, honours, Persons of the Year, medals, certificates, special recognition, posthumous recognition and institutional recognition.
3. Minimum record
Each recognition should identify purpose, eligibility, criteria, selection process, decision authority, recognition class, date, recipient, official record, certificate verification method and registry code.
4. Decision integrity
No recognition should be represented as officially issued before the competent authority has documented the decision.
5. Verification
Issued recognitions should have a permanent registry record capable of confirming authenticity and current status.
6. Revocation or correction
Any revocation, correction or change of status must itself be documented and should not erase the original institutional history.
